Live Stream Rescheduled!
9 months ago – Sun, Jun 22, 2025 at 08:13:33 PM

Hey guys! So, I updated you a couple of days ago about a live stream I was going to do. Well, if you tuned in, you probably noticed it didn't happen. That's because I had a family medical emergency that detained me for most of the day and prevented me from doing it at that time.

However, we're not giving up on this thing. We'll now do it tomorrow (Monday) at 12:00 PM PDT (7:00 PM GMT). The same links will work, as I was able to reschedule the stream rather than cancel it. So, you can find the stream on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X.

Doing it on a weekday might not be as ideal as a Saturday, but hopefully you'll still be able to come hang out with me and talk about Dawn of Madness, Deep Madness, or any of our other games.

Okay, that's it for this update. I hope to see you on the live stream tomorrow!

Live Stream and What We've Been Up To
10 months ago – Fri, Jun 20, 2025 at 11:01:49 PM

Hi there, my friend! Long time no talk!

I wanted to let you know first that I'll be doing a live stream tomorrow (Saturday, which may be today depending on when you read this) at 2 PM PDT (9 PM GMT). We'll mainly be talking about Dawn of Madness, but I'm happy to chat with you about any of our games. I'll be on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X. I hope to see you there!

Additionally, in case you haven't heard, our reopened pledge manager/new campaign for Dawn of Madness (The Complete Collection) is now live on Gamefound and will close this coming Tuesday. If you haven't checked out Dawn of Madness in a while, there's never been a better time to take a look.

Following the original campaign, we ended up completely retooling the game. We also expanded it, filling it with more and more content until it grew to essentially be four full games in the core box and eight games across its expansions - each with its own mechanics, monsters, ending battles, and storybooks. All told, there are over 353,000 words of story content in the base game, and 755,000+ words when you include the expansions. It's possible there's no better value in board games for $89. So, if you like deep, engrossing, story-rich, and utterly terrifying games, be sure to check it out!

Furthermore, since we have completed development and are about to start production, you can expect to receive your game within the next six months. That means that if you decide to back Dawn of Madness, you should get it by the end of this year. (It will take a few extra months for translated editions.)

Okay, that's it for this update! I hope you're doing well and enjoying your game. Have a great day, and I look forward to talking with you again soon!

Deep Madness's Last Day, and What's Been Going On
over 3 years ago – Tue, Oct 25, 2022 at 02:57:15 PM

Hi guys! I wanted to update you briefly on what's been happening in the Deep Madness campaign. First of all, this is its final day. So, if you're interested in checking it out, this is the last chance. You can find it by clicking here.

I also wanted to offer some updates from the campaign. First, we announced that this will be the original Deep Madness’s last crowdfunding campaign. Roger, our CEO, creative director, and lead game designer, also laid out the reasons for this campaign: essentially, this was the chance to fix those things in Deep Madness that we weren’t happy with initially, using what we’ve learned to update the game and make it the best version we could as we sent it out one last time. You can read more about his thoughts and the reasons for this campaign in the update here.

In this same update, we revealed that the Madness Reborn epic monsters have become their own, completely separate nightmares, rather than just new sculpts of the previous epics. We also announced that Deep Madness will be coming to the Dized app, complete with an interactive tutorial, and we offered some cool comparison shots between the new epics, old epics, and upgrade kit components. Finally, we announced that the new core game box will now be coming with every copy of the upgrade kit, so you won’t miss out on the new box if you just wanted to upgrade your game. (Once again, you can check out that update here.)

A Comparison of Insidious Matriarch vs. Insidious

In our first update, we announced that the elusive Magnetic Saw Gun card has been added to every pledge level from the Crawling Core up. You can see that update here.

The Elusive Magnetic Saw Gun Card is Now Being Added to Every Pledge from Crawling Core Up.

And finally, we have a new stretch goal we’re working towards, which will introduce a new type of investigator: the epic investigator. These are half-investigator, half-something else, and have two different modes: Mortal mode, and Enlightened mode. They have been altered by the sphere and the otherworld beyond it, making an investigator that is stronger - and more dangerous - than any others before it. Below are two rough concepts for our first epic investigator, Dr. William West, with the top one being his front while the bottom is his back. You can learn more about him in this update.

The New Stretch Goal: The Epic Investigator, Dr. William West

I think those are all the updates from the new Deep Madness campaign. Once again, if you’re interested, the campaign ends in a few hours, but you can still check it out here if you'd like.

Well, that's all for this update. Have a great day and week, and Happy Halloween!

Deep Madness Is Back!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 19, 2022 at 07:29:17 AM

Hey guys! Long time no talk! I just wanted to drop in and let you know that we have launched a new Kickstarter for Deep Madness. So, if there was an expansion you missed last time, you can grab it now.

We've included some new stuff and revised quite a few things as well. This new reprint includes a new expansion called Madness Reborn which adds eight giant, nasty reimaginings of some of our favorite epic monsters and seven scenarios crafted by Deep Madness superfan Phil Blake and his crew of madmen. There's also an upgrade kit that will bring your game up to the current version that we're offering nearly at cost, which includes revised versions of every printed component from the game - including revised versions of every rulebook and card, and color-corrected, brightened tiles and punchboards. (It's not a necessary purchase for you to continue enjoying your copy of Deep Madness, but it's there if you want it.)

If you'd like to take a look at the new campaign, you can find it by clicking here.

Want to see some of what's in the campaign? Okay then. Here are a couple of the monsters from Madness Reborn:

I hope you're doing well, friend. Have a great week!

Shattered Seas Info and a Live Stream!
over 5 years ago – Sat, Dec 19, 2020 at 03:30:49 AM

Hey guys! I'm going to be live streaming starting at 2 pm PST today (just over half an hour from now,) so come hang out! (The links are below.) Besides that, though, I also have some news regarding your free audiobooks (as well as the Shattered Seas book in general), so let's get into it!

The App For the Audiobook and Deep Dive Is Out!

For those of you who have been waiting for the Sound Booth Theater app to be available, I have great news! Both the Android and iPhone versions are out now.

You can download the Android version here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobile.soundbooththeater

And you can get the iPhone version here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/soundbooth-theater/id1535077102

I can confirm from personal experience that the Android app works great and that you can, in fact, download both the audiobook and the Deep Dive inside it for offline listening.

Once again, you can redeem your free audiobook and full-cast, sound effects-laden, musically laced, radio-drama style Deep Dive by going to https://soundbooththeater.com/deep-madness-backer-reward/. You'll need to create a free account using the email address associated with your Kickstarter account, then use the code KADATH during checkout to get the two for free. (Be sure you get the $14 Audiobook + Deep Dive version because the code doesn't work with the audiobook alone.) This code has a limited lifespan, so be sure to redeem it as soon as possible! (You can read more about how to redeem your audiobook in our last update by clicking here, and you can email me at [email protected] if you have issues.)

Speaking of Soundbooth, they did a Q&A with me recently! If you'd like to read it and get some more insights into Shattered Seas and Deep Madness, then check it out here: https://soundbooththeater.com/sbt-author-spotlight-byron-leavitt/

Live Stream Today!

There will be a couple of firsts in this live stream: first, I'll be doing it with my friend Jeff from Soundbooth Theater (speaking of Soundbooth...) as we discuss the Shattered Seas audiobooks, and it should also be the very first stream where I successfully stream to both Facebook and YouTube at the same time! Woohoo! (It only took me something like two years to figure it out... LOL!)

So, this stream will mainly be focused on the new novel Deep Madness: Shattered Seas which just released (you can check it out here), but I'd love for you to stop by with your Twisted Fables questions and comments anyway.

Below are the two links. I hope you can come hang out for a little bit today!

Shattered Seas Comes to Amazon!

It's official: Shattered Seas launched today on Amazon, with other retailers following soon after! The eBook and a trade paperback version are currently available. You can check out the paperback here: https://amzn.to/3a89o0l  And the eBook is here: https://amzn.to/3qZ0s3t (And, yes, for those who are wondering, this is the first Diemension Games product to be widely available at retail!)

A couple of things about this: first, the eBook is identical to the one you received for free a few months ago. Second, as mentioned above, there is a trade paperback version of the book now available, but the hardcover version with the scenario in it that we offered in the reprint campaign isn't purchasable yet. This omission is largely due to the fact that some people haven't received the hardcover as of this writing, so it didn't seem right to list that one before the last few of you guys got it. We will have it up at some point after shipping is completed, though it will be in limited quantities.

All that to say, I do have a request to make: if you've read the book already, would you mind taking a couple of minutes to review it on Amazon? That legitimately helps a ton, and I would be extremely grateful. If you'd like to jump right to the review page, you can do so by clicking here. I'm hoping this can help open up the Deep Madness Universe to a whole new group of people and help take it to cool new places in the future!

Oh, speaking of which, Shattered Seas got its first official review on the Blackgate website, courtesy of S.E. Lindberg, a backer and all-around awesome guy! You can read it here: https://www.blackgate.com/a-maelstrom-of-fun-for-horror-adventure-fans-deep-madness-shattered-seas-by-byron-leavitt/  (He and I will be doing an interview before too long, too, once I finally get my part of it finished for him. It'll be a fun one, so I'll pass that along when it's up.)

Have a great day, Happy Holidays, and Merry Christmas! Bye for now!
